ARTIST STATEMENT

I am interested in creating the awareness of spaces playing with ideas of public / private domains by using and displacing everyday objects within the space, utilising sound and video of performative acts as an aspect in my works and studies. Greatly influenced by Bruce Nauman’s and Chris Burden’s performance, video and sound works, fused with the lectures by neuroscientist V.S. Ramachandran and sociologist Dacher Keltner, I have a great fascination with the vagal nerve, oxytocin, mirror neurons and human psychology, sociology and the myriad of emotions. My works often relate to the delving into the interplay of identity to landscape, body and memory over time.
